In 2006 CoralRX was developed for 2 reasons: Firstly to treat corals suffering from parasites and secondly as a prophylactic measure to protect healthy corals from infestation by parasites or bacterial infections.
Extremely effective against parasites, CoralRX is very well digestible for corals, it contains neither iodine nor oxidants.
Independently testedAndrew Lynford, M.S. of Biology at Hofstra University independently tested CoralRX. The task of this study was to quantify the efficacy of 3 different products against flatworms: Flatworm Exit, CoralRX and Povidone. This article was published on Advanced Aquarist in April 2009. Only some excerpts from this article are listed here:
CoralRX was the most effective productCoralRX performed well as a coral immersion bath and its use would be beneficial for coral breeders, wholesalers, retailers, public aquariums and hobby aquarists to quarantine newly obtained corals.
Chemical treatments are used as a preventive measure to remove flatworms from corals before they enter the aquarium. These measures are called Coral Dip.
Quarantining new corals and live stones and treating them with a coral dip is the best way to protect your aquarium from marine flatworms and the potential toxic hazards they pose.
CoralRX a slightly different coral immersionCoralRX was developed with the basic idea of keeping corals healthy. The patented product contains a mixture of natural ingredients and does not contain iodine which colors corals. It also does not contain oxidants, which are often toxic and react with the coral tissue. Independent studies also doubt the effectiveness of iodine as a coral immersion bath, see Advanced Aquarist, April 2009.
CoralRX removes many unwanted guests in corals, such as Acropora eating flatworms, Montipora and Zoanthid eating snails.
