ROWA®lith is a natural material. It consists of 99.1% calcium carbonate (CaCO3) and is extracted from Jurassic and Devonian deposits.
Whether used as a substrate or as a hardening material for the calcium reactor with ROWA®lith, the additional introduction of undesirable substances into the aquarium (e.g. phosphate) is avoided, in contrast to the use of coral gravel. ROWA®lith is also used by Rowa as a deacidifier in drinking water treatment.
Special features:
- Excellent as a hardening material for calcium reactors
- Ideal as substrate in marine and hard freshwater Aquariums
- Additional buffering (pH stability) of aquarium water and provision of total and carbonate hardness (higher hardness levels can be achieved by adding CO2)
- Ideal growth medium for micro-organisms (e.g. nitrifiers)
- As a filter material in the biofilter, it buffers the acid produced by microorganisms very well
