The Sakura Aquatics Salinity Meter was developed with the help of experts who know what matters most: quick, accurate and intuitive measurement. As a result, the SM01 is as easy to use as a clinical thermometer and delivers several readings from a single measuring process: temperature, salinity in ppt, specific gravity and total dissolved solids (TDS). All of the measured values can be read off immediately on the large LCD screen. It's that straightforward.
Switch on - immerse - read. It's never been so easyWith its electronic sensor and officially licensed V3 firmware, the Sakura Aquatics Salinity Meter does all the hard work for you. You simply need to turn the device on and check the calibration using the supplied reference solution. Then rinse the sensor briefly and immerse it in the saltwater aquarium until the vibrating alert signals the end of the measuring process. At this point, all of the values can be read off easily on the large LCD screen and you can cycle through the individual measurements - temperature, salinity expressed as ppt or specific gravity, and TDS - at the touch of a button. The dissolved solids measurement also allows you to check the RO/DI water. Once measurement is complete, clean the sensor with a neutral liquid, dry it with a soft cloth and store it safely in the supplied storage box.
Accurate and high-resolution measurementsThe electronic sensor covers a broad measuring range and delivers a very high measurement resolution down to 0.1°C, 0.1 ppt and 0.001 specific gravity. Thanks to the supplied reference solution, you can check the measurement accuracy quickly at any time. If necessary, the device can be recalibrated in an instant thanks to a straightforward one-touch calibration routine. As a result, the Sakura Aquatics Salinity Meter delivers consistently accurate measurement results that you can rely on.
No need for correction tables or calculatorsThe Salinity Meter features automatic temperature compensation, with firmware that ensures accurate adjustment of the measured values. Correction tables and calculators are thus a thing of the past. But that's not all - the Salinity Meter also offers further advantages over existing measurement techniques. The SM01 is more robust than a hydrometer, making the overall handling much simpler. In addition, whereas refractometer measurements are inaccurate and error-prone due to the small measurement scale and sample size, the Sakura Aquatics delivers reliable measurement results thanks to its easy-to-read digital display and measurement directly inside the tank.
Quick and intuitive operationThe SM01 is similar to a digital clinical thermometer and is just as intuitive in its operation. It has a large display and a single button that controls all device functions. The Salinity Meter runs on two 1.5 V AAA batteries and switches off automatically after one minute to ensure that no energy is wasted.
Unambiguously accurate resultsIn line with international standards, the device measures the specific gravity (relative density) rather than the density, as is otherwise typical in Germany. When it comes to using the device, however, this simply means that you need to remember a new reference range. If you used to rely on the rule of thumb that the density should be approx. 1,022-1,024 at a temperature of 25°C, the salinity is now perfect when the digital display shows a specific gravity of 1,025-1,027. In order to rule out possible misinterpretations from the outset, the SM01 also indicates the salinity directly in ppt. Unambiguous, temperature-independent and accurate measurements with a digital display - measuring salinity has never been so easy.
